Termas Pallerés Spa in SpainMineral-Rich Open Air Bathing in a European Thermal Water Lake
Thermal spa mineral waters in the Spanish open air, a large natural warm lake for medicinal-mineral bathing & restored Roman baths for spa beauty treatments.
If you prefer the real outdoors for relaxing in a hot bath, then the mineral waters of a natural thermal lake in the Termas Pallerés Spa in Northern Spain could be just the place. Relaxing in a hot bath is one of nature's pleasures, but a hot bath while watching the wind rustle in the trees, the birds fly by and the blue sky – that is a real pleasure. Swimming in a warm mineral lake is relaxing and revitalising, a wonderful refreshing and healthy pastime all year round. The lake, surrounded by trees, is fed by a spring which flows at a constant temperatura of 32 C, and is set in 68,000 square metres of wonderful landscaped gardens. In the colder months the experience is even more incredible when the surface of the lake is covered in an atmospheric mist, producing a surreal experience. The Termas Pallerés Spa Centre offers a wide variety of treatments in its thermal recreation centre that is decorated in a Roman theme with lasings of marble for a luxurious feel. Many of the original features have been preserved such as the seven-ton marble baths. The restoration has been completely in keeping, using beautiful mosaic work and discreet lighting. There is evidence that the spa waters were being used over 2,000 years ago, but it wasn’t until 1863 the Romans began to build around this warm spring. The Roman motto "in aqua salus", which means "health is in the water" is the Spa’s motto today. The mineral lake is just one of the treatments on offer; the huge flow of water into the lake means that the water is completely renewed every 32 hours. It has an average depth of 1.5 metres, and there are two small islands in its centre. For people who find it hard to be still this is an ideal way of taking the medicinal-mineral waters, swimming in a safe, healthy and warm environment – what could be better? There is plenty of accommodation on site with a new 5-Star Gran Hotel Cascada a modern-boutique hotel with 25 rooms and two 3-Star hotels, including the Thermas hotel built in 1863 and the more modern Parque hotel with 90 rooms. The complex comes complete with a fitness area, children’s play area, two restaurants, two bar-cafes, tennis and billiards making it a great destination for all the family. The Termas Pallerés Spa is in the town of Alhama de Aragon, which is 204 kilometres to the north-east of Madrid. See more on Luxury Spain Travel.
